WHAT TO EXPECT ON A FLOAT TRIP

Wade Trips

Our local wade fishing trips give anglers the opportunity to enjoy the freestone (non-dam controlled) streams that surround the Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock areas. Depending on the time of year in which you take your trip, our fisheries offer a variety of angling opportunities ranging from chasing  large, stocked trout  to hunting for wild trout on some of North Carolina's most pristine streams. Much of where you will fish will be determined by factors such as the season of your trip, water flows and also what is happening with our local trout populations at the time of your trip. Our local wade trips offer a perfect venue for anglers that are wanting to enter the sport to learn the fundamentals of fly fishing.

Float Trips

By taking a float trip, you will be fishing on a Tailwater (dam controlled river), which allows for a very consistent water flow- the Watauga River and South Holston RIvers fish great year round. On a trip such as this, the need to wade is eliminated, which makes it a very effective fishing option for our guests that have difficulty wading. This style of fly fishing is as plush as it gets! It can be noted that  even in times of heavy rainfall, or extreme heat the rivers that we conduct our float trips on will fish very well due to the fact that they are dam controlled- don't let the threat of rain or heat ruin your fishing trip! These are both very special fisheries that we have access to. We are fortunate to have the premier trout destinations of the Blue Ridge Mountain region within such a short distance of the Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk areas.

"These guys were awesome. Took our group of 5 first timers out in August (tough fishing season). We all learned a ton and caught fish too! A couple of us are now looking to invest in the sport and pursue it further. Great teachers, very patient fun to be around. Highly recommend them!"
