Local Wade fishing trips >>

Join a Due South Guide as you venture into some of the most beautiful and productive trout streams in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Our local wade fishing trips give anglers the opportunity to enjoy the freestone (non-dam controlled) streams that surround the Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock areas. Depending on the time of year in which you take your trip, our fisheries offer a variety of angling opportunities ranging from chasing  large, stocked trout  to hunting for wild trout on some of North Carolina's most pristine streams. Much of where you will fish will be determined by factors such as the season of your trip, water flows and also what is happening with our local trout populations at the time of your trip. Our local wade trips offer a perfect venue for anglers that are wanting to enter the sport to learn the fundamentals of fly fishing. We emphasize teaching anglers how to catch fish during these trips, with the hope that our guests will be able to utilize these skills on their own.

Tennessee Half Day Float  Trips>>

Our half day float trip is hands down one of the most popular fishing trips that we offer. On our half day floats, we will fish on either the South Holston River or Watauga River of East TN. We generally will pick up our fishing guests early in the morning, make the quick drive to the river and fish for roughly 4-5 hours before returning home. This style of float fishing trip is perfect for both novice and experienced anglers. By taking a float trip, you will be fishing on a Tailwater (dam controlled river), which allows for a very consistent water flow- the Watauga River and South Holston RIvers fish great year round. On a trip such as this, the need to wade is eliminated, which makes it a very effective fishing option for our guests that have difficulty wading. This style of fly fishing is as plush as it gets! It can be noted that  even in times of heavy rainfall, or extreme heat the rivers that we conduct our float trips on will fish very well due to the fact that they are dam controlled- don't let the threat of rain or heat ruin your fishing trip! These are both very special fisheries that we have access to. We are fortunate to have the premier trout destinations of the Blue Ridge Mountain region within such a short distance of the Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk areas.

Banner Elk Fishing
Tennessee Wade Trip >>

Our Tennessee Wade Trip allows anglers an opportunity to fish on some of the best trout waters in the South East. Just a short drive from Boone lies two tailwaters, the South Holston and Watauga rivers. Each of these rivers produce monster trout on a regular basis. Wading these rivers has been proven to be highly productive in regards to hooking up with great fish, both in numbers and size. We do not recommend wade fishing in Tennessee for anglers that have a hard time wading or walking, seeing that the rivers are very slick. We do however recommend float fishing on these rivers for anglers that may have a harder time wading.

Tennessee Full Day Float Trips >>

Due South's Tennessee Float Trips are extremely popular among our clients. During a float trip, you will be rowed down the tailwaters of Tennessee in a drift boat by a Due South guide. These trips allow anglers to focus on fishing and not worry about the hassle of wading. Our float fishing trips have proven to be a great success with clients of all ages and abilities, however, we do recommend the full day trip for anglers with a bit of experience, simply due to the duration of the day being eight hours of fishing time. Our full day float trip will generally get started around 7:00 am, when you meet your guide at our shop in Boone. We will make the drive over to the river, fish for roughly four hours, take a break to have a streamside lunch, finish up the later half of the fishing day and head back to Boone after the afternoon fishing session is completed. The rivers that we conduct our float fishing trips on are considered to be the premier fishing destinations of the Blue Ridge Mountain Region and East Coast.
