Our Story
Due South Outfitters was originally started by Patrick and Meredith Sessoms. They laid the ground work to create one of the most prestigious outfitters in Western North Carolina. In 2020 they passed the business on to a member of the Due South family, Max Beck and his wife Macy. Max started his guiding career under Patrick at the age of 19 years old and guided full time throughout his years at Appalachian State University, where he received a degree in Business Management. He is now the head guide and owner, averaging over 200 days on the water each year. Macy became part of the Due South family after meeting Max and the crew at ASU and volunteering at the first Due South Classic tournament in 2018. She has a degree in Business Marketing from Appalachian State University and is now the business and marketing manager of Due South Outfitters, ensuring that everything runs smoothy in the shop as well as behind the scenes. Together they offer the only fly shop in the Boone Area that is owned and operated by a full-time fly fishing guide. Whether you are an advanced angler or simply looking into entering the sport of Fly Fishing, Max and Macy will gladly share their experiences and expertise with you!
